This rare collaboration brings together a select group of Europe-based Uzbek and Uyghur musicians to explore the repertoire and styles of these two Central Asian peoples artificially separated by 20th century politics but sharing a rich musical tradition. This programme features the poetic repertoire of the anarchic Sufi poet, Shah Mashrab, brought to life through the subtle vocals of Rahima Mahmut and instrumental wizardry of Sardor Mirzakhojaev. A one-off evening curated especially for SOAS!
