Swedish Mission in East Turkistan 1930/1931 (part 1)
This project aims to make available online for the first time archive films and audio recordings about and by members of the Swedish Mission (Svenska Missionskyrkan) in East Turkistan (Xinjiang), China.
The Mission was active in East Turkistan from 1892 until 1938. Most of the film material is from the 1930s.

Film note: The film shows footage from the journey to East Turkistan from the former Kyrgyz Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic and daily life in Yarkand as well as the Mission's Yarkand orphanage.
Note for this presentation: The film was subtitled in English for this project alongside the original Swedish. No footage has been cut out.
